The USA water polo-sanctioned California boys water polo state championships, planned for Nov. 27-29 in Irvine won't be played, organizer Scott Mitchell said.

The idea has been retooled into a Southern California regional tournament, which is planned for the same dates at William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center and Beckman.

"It's still in flux," Mitchell said of plans, which include teams from San Diego.
