Mira Costa of Manhattan Beach, the defending CIF-SS Div. I-AA and Division II state champion, won this year’s tournament. The Mustangs defeated Long Beach Wilson, 26-24, 25-27, 15-11 in the championship match Saturday in Hawaii.

El Toro senior outside hitter Elizabeth Harden has committed to Boise State, her father Tom confirmed. Harden was a second team All-Sea View performer last year for the Chargers.

All three county teams (Los Alamitos, Newport Harbor and Corona del Mar) have advanced to the championship round later this evening.

Cypress senior outside hitter Marissa Brand has committed to Fresno State.

Brand helped lead the Centurions to CIF-SS Division III-AA title last year.

She will be one of the players to watch for the upcoming season.

Los Alamitos’ girls volleyball team swept its first three opponents in the qualifying rounds of the Ann Kang Invitational at ‘Iolani School in Honolulu, Hawaii, on Thursday.

 Mater Dei middleblocker Anthony Walker has been admitted to UC Santa Barbara, his father Keith confirmed. He will be a walk on.  

Fellow Monarch Kat Castillo has signed to play at UC Riverside and Tesoro setter Karissa Legaux will play at Idaho State next year.

Mater Dei senior setter Marissa Hughes has committed to Northern Colorado and Edison outside hitter Nicolette Mather is committed to Biola University.

We are live from either North Hollywood or Studio City. I am sure that the Girls Volleyball Division III Regional Final will feature Harvard-Westlake of North Hollywood by way of Studio City against your very own Laguna Beach Breakers.

The winner will advance to the state finals Saturday in San Jose.
