Santa Margarita's Lauren Bohaboy

The Blues under-16 team won their first game of the championships, as Santa Margarita’s Lauren Bohaboy scored two goals in two minutes late in the second half to lead the Blues past Cleveland FC 2-0 in the final game of round robin play.

With the win and a 2-2 tie between Northern California’s De Anza Force Blue team and New York’s Syosset Rough Rider Elite Club, the Blues (1-0-2) and the Force (1-0-2) ended round robin play tied for second place in the standings with five points.

Because the two teams won the same number of games and tied their earlier meeting in the competition, the third tie-breaker (goal differential) was needed to break the deadlock.

The Blues lost the tie-breaker based on having a two-goal differential (5-3) in their three matches, while the Force (8-5) had a three goal differential.

The Force will now face the Ponte Vedra Storm in the championship game Sunday. The Storm (2-0-1) finished round robin play in first place with 7 points.

Kickoff is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Eastern/7:30 a.m. Pacific.

The Blues under-15 club played to a scoreless tie for the second straight day, this time against the San Diego Surf club team.

The Blues, who outshot the Surf 14-5, finished round robin play 0-1-2 and in fifth place with two points.

The San Diego Surf will take on the Dallas Texans Red team in the under-15 title game Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. Eastern/1 p.m. Pacific.
