Girls golf: Beckman's Park finishes in top 10 at state

girls_golf_iconShe was 4-over three holes into the CIF State girls golf championship, but when she got ready to make the turn, everything changed for Kaitlin Park. The Beckman sophomore, the only Orange County player to qualify for this tournament, chipped in an eagle from 50 yards out on the par-five No. 9 at Poppy Hills. As she teed it up on the tenth, she was now just 1-over.

Girls golf: Beckman's Park makes State

girls_golf_iconMURRIETA - Kaitlin Park's nerves were starting to get the best of her, her hands shaking every time she stood over a putt at the SCGA Members Course.

The Beckman sophomore knew she had a good round going, one that just might deliver a WSCGA Southern California Championship.

Girls golf: Los Al's Lee leads OC players in CIF Individuial Tournament

SAN CLEMENTE - She had never seen the course before she teed off on Monday at Talega, and the strong ocean breezes made it even more challenging.

Still Esther Lee managed to post a score that put her among the select group of seven golfers, who were the only ones break par at the CIF Southern Section girls golf Individual Championships.

The Los Alamitos freshman holed four birdies and finished with a 1-under 71.

Girls golf: Uni's Gulugian leads CIF field on Thursday

She has played with the pros at the U.S. Women's Open and helped the United States defeat some of the best young European golfers at the Junior Solheim Cup.

Girls golf: Canyon wins CIF Regional

CHINO - The checks have been filled out and signed for some time now, sitting at the bottom of Coach Jan McKendrick-Harold's briefcase just waiting to pay for Canyon's trip to the CIF girls golf State Championship tournament.

Girls golf: Canyon flexes muscle at CIF Nothern Regional

Girls golf: Uni's Gulugian triumphs in CIF regional

girls_golf_iconHEMET - The longest putt was the only one to go one to go in during the sudden-death playoff at Landmark Golf Club, and when the 20-foot downhill right-to-left breaker dropped to the bottom of the cup, Ani Gulugian had a birdie on the par-5 No. 10 and her second consecutive victory in the CIF SS Individual girls golf Southern Regional.

Girls golf: Alston wins Trinity League tourney

HEMET - It happened on the ninth hole here at Seven Hills Golf Club, the shot that turned Santa Margrita's Amy Alston into the Trinity League champion.

She rolled in an eagle on the 438-yard, par-five and that helped her leap ahead of Victoria Nguyen to claim a 1-stroke victory over the Mater Dei junior on Thursday.

Girls golf: University's Gulugian is PCL champ

girls_golf_iconRANCHO SANTA MARGARITA - She is one of the top junior golfers in the country, a teenager who played against the top pros inthe world at the U.S. Open, but only once during her high school career has she qualified for the CIF State championship.

And Ani Gulugian has only got one more chance to win the most coveted prize in girls high school golf.

"That (winning state) is the only thing that matters to me as far as high school golf is concerned," Gulugian said.

Girls golf: League finals begin

girls_golf_iconAll six players from the top-ranked University golf team made it to the final round of the Pacific Coast League individual tournament which will completed today at Tijeras Creek.

Uni senior Ani Gulugian, one of the top junior golfers in the nation, wasn't the Trojans leader in the clubhouse. She played through some pretty bad flu-like symptoms and  shot a 3-0ver 75 at El Prado in Chino Hills. Her sophomore teammate, Melissa Wattana posted a 73 to lead Uni, which saw four of its six players break 80.

Girls golf: Newport reaches goal
