OK, pollsters: now what? Corona del Mar's No. 4 boys water polo team defeated No. 2 Mater Dei, 10-9, on Tuesday to really twist the debate over who's No. 1 in Orange County.
The Sea Kings are 1-0 vs. Mater Dei and 1-0 vs. El Toro but 0-2 vs. Newport Harbor.
But perhaps more importantly, Corona del Mar continued to validate its breakthrough season and show that it is a major contender for the Division I playoffs.

At El Modena
Century League Championship
Villa Park vs. El Modena
Villa Park 11, El Modena 8 (F) The Spartans are champions again in the Century League. The third period turned the tide. Kyle Etrata led Villa Park in scoring with five goals. VP goalie Michael Wagner came up big with 14 saves. B.J. Churnside had six steals. Lucas Spencer had five goals for the Vanguards, who certainly gave the Spartans a very good look.
Excellent crowd energy here at El Modena. Yeah, they got on the referees pretty good but that's to be expected. Referees did a good job with an intense match. Ejections ended being about even.
Villa Park 10, El Modena 6 (3) The Spartans scored the first five goals of the third to take control. El Modena scored late and missed a penalty shot in the period.
El Modena 5, Villa Park 5 (H) - Vanguards scored the first three goals of the second to take a 4-3 lead and yes, we got a heck of a game here at a very loud El Modena. Pool deck is packed like I've never seen before.
Aliso Niguel senior swimmer Rheanna Vaughn, one of Orange County's most consistent and versatile performers, has picked her college destination.
Laguna Beach center Lexie Ross, a key member of the Breakers' Division II girls water polo championship team a season ago, has made her college decision.

I have updated the story on Mater Dei's victory against Newport Harbor at the Memorial Cup with some excellent photos from Ellen Bak Gaughan.
On the subject of photos, I am seeking team photos of the boys water polo teams that capture a league title this week.
So, yes, Laguna Beach and Coach Ethan Damato, you are on the clock since the Breakers won their title last week!
"I'd be a great Division I," Mater Dei boys coach water polo coach Chris Segesman told me Saturday night. "I think we're all close."
Yes, what if Mater Dei was in Division I this season and part of the postseason season mix with Loyola, El Toro, Newport Harbor and Corona del Mar? That certainly would be some good water polo.
While I believe the Trinity League will move from Division II to Division I the next time the divisions are reconfigured, we still need to figure out the county rankings in wake of Mater Dei's upset of No. 1 Newport Harbor on Saturday in NorCal.
Mater Dei's No. 4 boys water polo team has defeated top-ranked Newport Harbor, 11-10, to capture the Memorial Cup Invitational in San Jose on Saturday night.
This has to rank as one of the biggest regular-season victories in Mater Dei's history under Coach Chris Segesman. And what a job Segesman has done again in 2009. Mater Dei lost a ton of talent from last season's Division II champion team and these guys have reloaded big time.
If you didn't know it, Mater Dei has arrived a water polo powerhouse.
