November 7th, 2012, 10:06 am by

Rosary athletic director Rob Ickes has announced that alumna Jennifer Murphy has been appointed the school’s new cross country and track and field coach.

Murphy replaces Thom Confer, who departed to take on the same coaching duties at El Modena.

Murphy was a four year varsity cross county and track and field athlete at Rosary from 1998-2002. She was named the school’s freshman athlete of the year.

She competed in both cross country and track and field at UC Santa Barbara and served as an assistant coach for the San Marcos boys’ and girls’ cross country teams.

Recently, Murphy has served as an assistant at Servite, coaching in both cross country and as a distance coach in track and field.

“We are very excited to have an exceptional coach like Jennifer join our staff,” Ickes said in a statement. “She brings a wealth of knowledge to our young women, not only as a very competent and successful coach, but as a Rosary alumna.”
