The Orange County All-Star Baseball Game is Tuesday at Glover Stadium (La Palma Park, Anaheim). Game time is 7 p.m. Some excellent players at the game, including Katella pitcher/first baseman Nick Ramirez, who signed with Cal State Fullerton, and Orange Lutheran pitcher Gerrit Cole who signed with Orange Lutheran. There are several players in the game who will be selected in the MLB draft this Thursday and Friday. Cole is projected to go in the latter half of the first round.
Tickets are $5. The game is in a great ballpark. The baseball part of the Glover Stadium complex is actually called Dee Fee Field, named for a longtime groundskeeper there. There is a lot of history to the place, some MLB history, actually. PA announcer John Dahlem will let you know all about that during the game. Dahlem is an interesting guy — was the principal at a couple of county schools, a successful wrestling coach, CIF-Southern Section Council president, and an accomplished mountaineer who has reached the summit of some of the world’s tallest peaks.

Tyler Zeigler pitched a shutout, the Chargers’ eighth and his second of the season. Andrew Marian drove in three runs with a bases-loaded triple, and Mike Barnhill and Garrett Donohoe also drove in runs. El Toro finished 25-7, REV 26-4.
El Toro did those three things Coach Mike Gonzales always talks about: good pitching; good defense; and timely hitting. Not bad for a team with only three seniors in the starting lineup.
It is the first CIF baseball championship in school history.

El Toro wins its first CIF baseball championship. The Chargers pretty much dominated a very good REV team tonight at Dodger Stadium.

The Chargers, leading, 4-0, have the bases loaded – Penprase on third, Arenado on second and Barnhill on first — with one out.

In the top of the sixth, Jensen walked, and went to second when Fierro walked. Garrett Donohoe singled to left. Jensen scored on Donohoe’s hit, and when the REV LF bobbled the ball, Fierro scored to make it 4-0.

El Toro still has a 2-0 lead.
Tyler Zeigler is pitching well for the Chargers. He has allowed two hits and two walks, and has struck out two.
But that’s a good Redlands East Valley team. The Wildcats have been shut out only once this season, by Redlands in a Citrus Belt League game.

Still no score. REV pinch runner Scott Morgan was picked off — he was heading for second before ET P Zeigler went into his windup, Zeigler threw to 1B Penprase who threw to SS Arenado to get Morgan easily.
