The latest Signing Day news from the OCVarsity blog:
National Letter of Intent Signing Day is Wednesday for football, soccer, track and field, cross country, men’s water polo and field hockey.
OCVarsity.com and the Register will provide non-stop coverage of the big signings of the day, but we could use your help. If you know of a school’s plans for Signing Day events — or, perhaps, if a group of athletes is having a Signing Day event that’s not at school — please email us at preps@ocregister.com with the details.
It’s going to be a big day on OCVarsity with full coverage of Signing Day for several sports.
Edison is getting things going with an event right now on campus that is scheduled to involve 10 athletes making their college decisions final. Mater Dei is up at 8 a.m. with a ceremony for, at last count, 13 athletes signing a National Letter of Intent or announcing their choices to attend schools that don’t use the NLI process.
There are other big events today at Santa Margarita, Troy, Corona del Mar and La Habra that we know of, and other schools certainly will be doing smaller things to commemorate the big day for their athletes.
If you’re an athlete who is signing or a signing athlete’s parent or coach, please email us with the news and any photos of the signing to preps@ocregister.com.
The latest Signing Day news from the OCVarsity blog:
Rain is in the forecast for most of Friday, meaning fair-weather fans might not make it out to some of the huge O.C. football games being played. They, of course, can spend their night with our live updates on ocvarsity.com.
But we want to reward the fan we feel shows the most spirit Friday, whether you find a way to stay dry or end up all wet. Our photographers will be at several games (see the list below), so you’ll have a chance to be a winner if you’re there.
Of course, holding up an OCVarsity or Fandemonium sign might help, too, if you’re trying to get our photographers’ attention.
OCVarsity knows how passionate Orange County’s fans are about high school sports, so we came up with a way for you to be part of the action.
If you’re going to a varsity-level game in volleyball, water polo or football this fall, you can submit the score as it changes through your smart phone. If you have a mobile device with a touch screen, you can keep all O.C. high schools fans updated on the game you’re attending.
When you go to a game, open a browser on your smart phone and go to m.ocvarsity.com/scores. When you go to log in, you can register or continue as a guest. We’d prefer that you register so we know who’s helping us out, but it’s up to you.
After you log in, select the sport, find the game on the schedule and start entering your updates. For water polo, after every goal would be great. For volleyball, try to send in updates after each game. And for football, we’ll take every score you can give us.
If you have any questions about how this works, email preps@ocregister.com and we’ll get back to you.
