Girls water polo: Stansfield’s late strike lifts North to all-star win

Foothill’s Nikki Stansfield scored a power-play goal off a cross pass from teammate Ashley Zwirner with 12 seconds left to lift the North past the South, 13-12, in the Orange County all-star girls water polo game at Yorba Linda on Sunday.

Foothill’s Brenna Thomas scored a game-high four goals to pace the North offense. Late addition Mackenzie Barr of Mater Dei added three goals for the North.

Centers Emily Loughlin of Santa Margarita and Allison Skaggs of El Toro each finished with three goals to lead the South’s offense.

Here’s the final stats:

south  2 – 3- 5- 2 = 12

north  5 – 2 – 1 – 5 = 13
