HEMET (20-9) VS. OCEAN VIEW (23-8), 9:20 a.m.

Outlook: Top-seeded Ocean View and No. 3-seeded Hemet have taken different routes to reach their finals. Golden West League champion Ocean View is coming off consecutive, narrow, 5-4, victories against Beaumont and Chino in the quarterfinals and semifinals. Mountain Pass League champion Hemet has cruised past Segerstrom and second-seeded Citrus Valley the past two rounds by a combined score of, 25-9.

Segerstrom coach Tim Fredericksen has played both teams and favors Hemet, which beat Segerstrom, 13-5, in the quarterfinals.

“They’ve been the dark-horse all year,” he said of Hemet. “For our division, they’re legit.”

In the semifinals, Hemet scored the first seven goals en route to a 12-4 victory against second-seeded Citrus Valley. Shelbi Skinner — also a standout for Hemet’s CIF championship volleyball team — scored five goals to pace Hemet’s offense in the triumph. Tabitha DelCarmen made several key saves in goal for Hemet.

But while Hemet is scoring more goals as of late, Ocean View’s defense this postseason has been stellar. The Seahawks and goalie Cami McNabb, pictured above wit her sister, Brynne, have allowed only 10 goals in three matches.

Fredericksen said Ocean View’s physical style could present problems for Hemet. The Seahawks’ offense is led by center Brynne McNabb, a strong 2-meter player with a live arm.
