Here are my predictions and a few comments for today’s CIF girls water polo semifinals — the Division 1 and 2 games look very intriguing:

Division 1

Foothill def. CdM (Foothill’s defense has been tough on Sea Queens, and Knights have more power at 2 meters)

Santa Barbara def. Newport (Hard to pick against Coach Barnett and Harrington but Dons seem to have the Sailors’ number)

Division 2

Mater Dei def. Santiago/Corona (Monarchs will need more step-up performances like their win v Agoura)

El Toro def. Santa Margarita (This one could come down to outside shooting, and Chargers have the best GK in division)

Division 4

Troy def. Los Altos (Warriors likely see Bonita in finals)

Division 6

Yorba Linda def. Palm Desert

Pacifica def. Culver City

Division 7

Ocean View def. Chino
