Girls basketball: Division 4AA county outlook, players to watch

DIVISION 4AA

COUNTY OUTLOOK

(Division 4AA girls basketball playoff bracket)

Costa Mesa: This will be a very brief appearance in the postseason for the Mustangs because they will be facing top-seeded Windward of L.A., which features USC-bound point guard Courtney Jaco, junior guard Jordin Canada and junior center Kristen Simon.

JSerra: The second-seeded Lion played one of the strongest schedules in the county to prepare for this postseason. JSerra will probably have to get past seventh-seeded Bishop Montgomery of Torrance and third-seeded Serra to reach the finals where they would meet up again with top-seeded Windward of L.A. The Lions lost to Bishop Montgomer, 60-54, on Dec. 5 and they lost to Windward, 59-48. The Bishop Montgomery game was very winnable and they went toe-to-toe with Windward until they pulled away in the fourth quarter.

Rosary: Trinity League teams traditionally do very well in the postseason. Rosary is one of those teams that has made deep runs in the past. The best the Royals can hope for this season is the quarterfinals because that is where they would run into top-seeded Windward of. L.A.
