Girls soccer: Thursday’s recap (2-7-13)

With the regular season winding down around the county, here is a look at some of Thursday’s results.

 

In the Freeway League:

No. 3 Sunny Hills 1, Troy 0: Maribell Morales scored in the second half, as the host Lancers (20-1-5; 9-0-1) clinched their third straight league title with a win over the Warriors (20-4-2; 7-2-1).

In the Sunset League:

No. 5 Los Alamitos 3, Newport Harbor 0: Krystal De Ramos scored twice to help the Griffins (13-3-7; 8-0-2) clinch the Sunset League title with a win over the Sailors (4-15-4; 2-6-2). Hannah Goldsmith also scored for Los Alamitos.

No. 6 Edison 2, Huntington Beach 1: Mackenzie Cerda scored a goal in each half to lead the visiting Chargers (15-3-4; 7-0-3) to a win over the Oilers (8-6-6; 3-4-3).

Fountain Valley 2, Marina 0: Kasey Reeve and Madison Gomez tallied first half goals, as the Barons (6-11-5, 1-7-2) topped the Vikings (5-15-4; 2-6-2) at Fountain Valley High.

In the Pacific Coast League:

No. 7 Corona del Mar 3, Beckman 0: Annie Alvarado had a goal and an assist in the Sea Kings (14-3-4; 6-1-2) home win over the Patriots (4-12-6; 1-7-2). Miranda Stiver and Karsten Sigband also scored goals for Corona del Mar.

University 0, Northwood 0: Trojans goalie Coryna Ogunseitan recorded eight saves, the Trojans (10-4-4; 5-2-2) and Timberwolves (12-8-4; 6-2-2) played to a tie at Las Lomas Community Park.

In The Golden West League:

Segerstrom 4, Westminster 0: Vivian Vega scored two goals and recorded an assist, as the Jaguars (16-0; 10-0) blanked the Lions (11-8-2; 4-5-1) at Westminster. Cindy Maradiago scored a goal and added an assist, while Melissa Mazariegos scored for Segerstrom.

Ocean View 1, Loara 0: Jade Kratovil scored the only goal of the match, as the Seahawks (10-8-1; 5-4-1) defeated the Saxons (13-9-1; 5-5).

Santa Ana 5, Orange 0: Rosa Soto recorded a hat trick in the Saints (10-8-3; 4-5-1) win over the Panthers (1-14-1; 0-9-1) at El Modena High. Heidi Mejia and Cinthia Olivos also scored for Santa Ana.

In the Academy League:

St. Margaret’s 1, Crean Lutheran 0: Sarah Gencarella scored in the second half, as the host Tartans (13-4-4; 9-0) wrapped up the league title over the Saints (16-7-1; 8-2).

Sage Hill 6, Brethren Christian 0: Meg Crade and Juliette Singarella each tallied two goals, as the Lightning (13-7-3; 5-4-1) clinched the league final automatic playoff berth with a win over the Warriors. Alyssa Anderson and Madi Jabara also scored for Sage Hill.
