Football recruiting: Villa Park’s Whitton decides on Ivy League champ

Villa Park offensive tackle Nick Whitton (6-2, 260) has committed to Ivy League champion Penn, he said Saturday.

Whitton made official recruiting trips to Penn and Princeton.

The senior racked up offers from Penn, Princeton, Harvard, Cornell, Cal Poly SLO, Sacramento State and UC Davis.

Whitton said the main reason he picked Penn was the university’s Wharton business school.

Edison quarterback Alek Torgersen (6-3, 210) also has committed to Penn.
