Laguna Beach’s Drake Martinez

Laguna Beach All-County football player Drake Martinez, coming off a strong performance at Monday’s The Canyon-Coast Classic in Riverside, has been offered by Michigan State, the senior said in a text message Wednesday.

Martinez said the Spartans are recruiting him to play running back/safety and that he will take an official visit to the Big Ten school.

He also has made an official visit Nebraska. His brother, Taylor, is the Huskers’ starting quarterback.

At Monday’s Canyon-Coast Classic all-star game in Riverside, Martinez had an interception, forced a fumble and had two carries for 40 yards.

Michigan State and Florida International of the Sun Belt Conference are Martinez’s most recent offers.
