Recently, the fans picked Marina senior forward Dakoda Muta as their choice for MVP of the first half of the season, so now it’s my turn to pick out the 12 players that I believe made the biggest impact at least in the games that I watched them.
There will be more than 11 on this team, but hey, you got to have some guys to sub in off the bench.
I think anyone who has been paying attention to the season – expect the Muta fan club – will probably agree with me that the first-half player of the year is on a South Coast League team.
It’s Gage Zerboni, a senior forward from San Clemente. Not only does he lead the county in goal scoring with 22 goals, but he is also closing in on the single-season assists record at the school. He needs just three more to take the record away from Zach Miller, who had 16 assists in 2008.
