Los Alamitos has selected Jeff Nesmith as its boys water polo coach, former Griffins boys coach Dave Carlson said.
Nesmith is a former Long Beach Wilson and Stanford standout.
He also coached Marina’s boys in 2008 and 2009, and at BYU-Hawaii as an assistant in 2005-06.
“I’m really stoked to work with him,” Carlson said in a text message of Nesmith, who recently earned his teaching credential.
Nesmith replaces Carlson, who resigned as the Griffins’ boys coach but remains Los Alamitos’ girls coach.
Carlson guided the Los Alamitos boys to eight league titles and a CIF-SS Division 2 title in 2004. He coached the boys program since 1999 and resigned after this past season.
