Girls soccer: Thursday’s recap (1-10-13)

It was a busy day of soccer action around the county. Here is a look at some of Thursday’s results.

In the Sea View League:

No. 1 Capistrano Valley 0, Laguna Hills 0: Hawks goalie Allie Scott recorded 19 saves, as the Hawks (4-8-3; 1-0-1) and Cougars (10-1-3; 1-0-1) played to a tie at Laguna Hills High. Capistrano Valley goalie Aubrie Coley had eight saves for the Cougars.

In the Pacific Coast League:

No. 3 Corona del Mar 2, Northwood 0: The Sea Kings (9-2-2; 1-0) received goals from Elise Roche and Birkley Sigband in their road win over the Timberwolves (3-8-1; 0-2).

Beckman 4, Woodbridge 0: Sami Rodriguez and Skyler Daviss each recorded a goal and an assist to lead the Patriots (4-6-4; 1-1) past the Warriors (5-6-1; 1-1) at Harvard Athletic Park. Allison Kerler and Nikki Martino also scored for Beckman.

University 4, Irvine 1: Hanna Ghamari and Sierra Winder each scored two goals to pace the Trojans (6-2-3; 1-0) past the Vaqueros (5-8-2; 2-1) at Las Lomas Community Park. Jessica Wong had two assists, while Darya Fenton and Shantae Elam added an assist for University.

In the Freeway League:

No. 4 Sunny Hills 4, Buena Park: Maribell Morales had a hat trick in the Lancers (13-1-4; 3-0) home win over the Coyotes. Jessica Lee also tallied a goal for Sunny Hills.

Troy 2, Sonora 0: Brooke Gower had a goal and an assist to help the Warriors (16-2-1; 3-0) defeat the Raiders at Sonora High. Lauren Woodyard added a goal for Troy.

In the Sunset League:

No. 6 Edison 3, Marina 0: Mackenzie Cerda scored twice to guide the Chargers (10-3-2; 2-0-1) past the Vikings (4-11-2; 1-2) at Edison High.

No. 10 Los Alamitos 2, Fountain Valley 0: Goals from Meghan Randig and Raya Young spurred the Griffins (7-3-6; 2-0-1) over the Barons (5-6-4; 0-2-1) at Fountain Valley High.

Huntington Beach 1, Newport Harbor 1: The Sailors (2-10-4; 0-1-2) and Oilers (6-3-4; 1-1-1) played to a draw at Newport Harbor. Francesca Rand scored for Huntington Beach, while Toni Holland tallied a goal for Newport Harbor.

In the Century League:

No. 8 Villa Park 5, Canyon 0: Bethany Sutherland scored two goals and added an assist, as the Spartans (12-4-4; 5-0) blanked the Comanches (6-6-4; 2-1-1) at Fred Kelly Stadium.

Esperanza 4, El Modena 0: Nosa Ogiamien had a goal and an assist, leading the visiting Aztecs (8-5-4; 2-1-2) past the Vangaurds (6-10-1; 0-5).

Foothill 1, Brea Olinda 0: Kristen Reeves scored the lone goal of the match in the second half to lift the Knights (5-7-3; 2-1-1) over the Wildcats (8-5-6; 2-2) at Foothill High.

In the South Coast League:

No. 9 San Clemente 1, Tesoro 0: Nikki Faris tallied a first half goal to help the Tritons (8-4-3; 1-1) defeat the Titans (4-6-2; 0-1) at Tesoro High.

In the Trinity League:

No. 7 Orange Lutheran 1, Santa Margarita 1: Kayra Dollas scored the match-tying goal in the second half, as the Lancers (12-1-5; 0-0-2) and Eagles (4-4-3; 1-0-1) played to a draw at Santa Margarita High. Maggie Ghotbi scored in the first half for Santa Margarita.

JSerra 1, Rosary 0: Claire Quinn’s first half goal was the match-decider in the Lions (11-2-3; 2-0) home win over the Royals (7-5-5; 0-1-1).

In the Orange Coast League:

Saddleback 3, Calvary Chapel 2: Angela Hernandez, Lilibeth Torres, and Marissa Perez scored goals to lead the Roadrunners (8-2-2; 2-0) over the Eagles (2-5-2; 0-2) at Saddleback High. Katie Morris and Kelsey Rivas scored second half goals for Calvary Chapel.

Laguna Beach 0, Estancia 0: Eagles goalie Caitlin Leahy produced three saves, including a penalty kick saves in the second half, as the Estancia (5-2-7; 1-0-1) and Laguna Beach (3-6-4; 0-2-1) played to a scoreless tie at Estancia High.

In the Golden West League:

Loara 6, Orange 0: Josseline Cosio recorded a hat trick in the Saxons (9-5-1; 1-1) win over the Panthers (1-6-1; 0-1-1) at Loara High. Cierra Boaz added two goals for Loara.

Segerstrom 1, Ocean View 0: Cindy Maradiaga’s overtime goal lifted the Jaguars (8-0; 2-0) to a road win over the Seahawks (5-5-1; 0-1-1). Emma Malsy had 13 saves for Ocean View.

Westminster 3, Santa Ana 2: Two goals from Yazmin Gomez led the Lions (8-3-2; 1-0-1) to a home victory over the Saints (6-4-3; 0-1-1). Cinthia Olivos and Alejandra Peinado scored goals for Santa Ana.

In the Academy League:

St. Margaret’s 6, Oxford Academy 1: McKenna Marmelstein and Lizzie Barbaresi tallied two goals apiece to highlight the Tartans (5-3-4; 2-0) home win over the Patriots (7-3; 1-1). Grace Chalmers and Alexa Barbaresi each added a goal and an assist, while Tara Morris had three assists.

Crean Lutheran 7, Brethren Christian 0: Meghan Shoemaker and Emily Druckrey each scored two goals in the Saints (9-4-1; 2-0) road win over the Warriors (0-8; 0-2).

Sage Hill 3, Whitney 0: The Lighting (9-3-2; 1-1) blanked Whitney, as Juliette Singarella recorded a goal and an assist. Tiffany Taylor and Allie Mowrey also scored for Sage Hill.

In the Orange League:

Santa Ana Valley 7, Savanna 1: Behind four goals from Jessica Reyes, the Falcons (7-6-1; 1-1) defeated the Rebels (0-6; 0-1) at Centennial Park. Brenda Chopin added two goals for Santa Ana Valley.
