Mater Dei tight end and Register offensive player of the year Thomas Duarte will announce his college decision Friday at the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl at Home Depot Center in Carson, he said after practice with the West all-stars Wednesday at Santa Ana Stadium.
Duarte has listed his final picks as Notre Dame, Oregon, UCLA, USC and Washington.
“In my mind, I’ve narrowed it down and I’ve picked a school but I’ll just tell everybody on Friday,” Duarte said.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. This is ending my high school career. I thought it would be just that much better announcing on TV.”
The second-annual Semper Fidelis game will be broadcast on the NFL Network on Friday at 6 p.m.
Friday will be a big day for college announcements. Mission Viejo safety/wide receiver Max Redfield is expected to announce during the Under Armour All-America Game on Friday on ESPN at 2 p.m. The game is being played in Florida.
Redfield has narrowed his decision to Notre Dame and USC. The Register’s defensive player of year earlier decommitted to USC.
Santa Monica wide out Sebastian LaRue, also playing in the Under Armour game, announced Wednesday on twitter that he has decommitted to USC.
