Top-ranked Corona del Mar came up short in its quest to finish the preseason with a tournament championship.
The Sea Kings allowed a first half goal en route to losing 1-0 to South Torrance in the White Division championship match of the North Orange County Classic Saturday at La Mirada High.
Corona del Mar entered the tournament ranked No. 2 in the latest CIF-SS Division 1 poll. South Torrance is the top-ranked team in CIF-SS Division 4.
The Sea Kings (8-2-2) had their six-match unbeaten streak snapped in the defeat, losing for the first time since a 1-0 defeat to Cathedral Catholic in the semifinals of the Butch Lee Memorial Tournament on December 8th.
