Mater Dei has hired former Irvine boys and Concordia University coach Ken Dory as its swim coach, the Trinity League school announced Monday.
Dory has an excellent history as a high school swim coach. His Irvine boys were often top contenders in the county who raced fast and displayed plenty of enthusiasm.
The former O.C. coach of the year guided Irvine’s boys to CIF-SS Division 1 titles in 2000 and 2001 and runner-up finishes in 1998-99.
Irvine’s boys claimed 10 league titles under Dory before he resigned after the 2008 season.
He also coached four-time Olympian Jason Lezak in high school.
