Mission Viejo defensive end Garrett Marino — my pick for Breakout Performer of the Year for O.C. football in 2012 — has scheduled an official recruiting trip to Cincinnati, the senior reports.
Marino is scheduled to visit the Big East school the weekend of Jan. 11.
Arizona State also is talking to Marino (6-2, 260).
The Sun Devils made an in-home visit earlier this week.
Cincinnati and Arizona State see Marino as a defensive end while Fresno State has discussed linebacker with Marino, who has excellent speed. He also played fullback for Mission Viejo.
But he starred on the defensive line under excellent DL coach Mike Piel. Marino racked up 14 sacks, three forced fumbles and 48 total tackles.
