Mission Viejo safety/wide receiver Max Redfield — Orange County’s top-ranked football recruit for the class of 2013 — has narrowed his college picks to Notre Dame and USC and will announce his decision at the Under Armour All-American all-star game Jan. 5 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla., the senior said.

“Pretty much, I’m just split between Notre Dame and USC – that’s what it comes down to,” Redfield said onTuesday night after the Diablos’ basketball game at University.

“I was thinking about getting out to Ohio State and Oregon but I’m just going to end it right now.”

Redfield made an official recruiting trip over the weekend to USC. The one-time USC commit said the trip went well.

“I had a great time up there with all the recruits,” he said.

He also has made official recruiting trips to Notre Dame and Washington.
