Girls soccer: Tuesday’s recap (12-4-12)

On a busy day of soccer action throughout the county, here is a look at some of Tuesday’s results.

In the Aliso Cup:

No. 1 Aliso Niguel 3, Long Beach Poly 0: Gianna Dawson, Alex Howell, and Anisa Raja each tallied goals, as the Wolverines (1-0) defeated the Jackrabbits in Pool E action at Long Beach Poly.

No. 5 Edison 1, Buena 0: A first half goal from Kelsea Arenado was the difference, as the Chargers (3-0-1) defeated the Bulldogs in a Pool B match at Edison.

Sunny Hills 3, M.L. King/Riverside 0: Goals from Jewels Zuniga, Megan Villaescuesa, and Maribell Morales sparked the host Lancers (1-1) to victory in a Pool D match.

Canyon 1, Santiago/Corona 0: Mikayla Arcebido tallied the match-deciding goal in the first half to lead the Comanches (1-1) to a Pool A win at Fred Kelly Stadium. Mia Hummel had 11 saves for Canyon.

Palos Verdes 1, Trabuco Hills 0: Despite four saves from Kayla Nueman, the host Mustangs (0-2) fell to the Sea Kings in a Pool C match.

Beckman 2, Etiwanda 0: The Patriots received second half goals from Sami Rodriguez and Nikki Martino to defeat the Eagles in a Pool B match at Harvard Park.

Yorba Linda 2, Hart 1: Behind second half goals from Shelby Lanksbury and Megan Cox, the Mustangs (1-0) posted a home victory in a Pool H match. Kristen Kleinow had 10 saves for Yorba Linda.

No. 9 Orange Lutheran 0, Long Beach Wilson 0: The host Lancers (2-0-1) received five saves from Sarah Klinkenberg in a scoreless tie with the Bruins in Pool G action.


In the Ocean View Tournament

Rosary 1, Long Beach Millikan 0: Maddie McDonald’s second half goal led the Royals (2-2-1) to a win over the Rams at Fullerton College.

Nonleague:

No. 6 Corona del Mar 3, Downey 0: Annie Alvarado, Karsten Sigband, and Jayden Smith tallied goals in the Sea Kings (1-0) victory over the Vikings at Corona del Mar.

Mission Viejo 2, El Toro 1: Kiana Palacios and Sam Uribe scored goals in the Diablos (1-0) win over the Chargers (0-2) at El Toro.

Capistrano Valley 2, JSerra 0: The Cougars (1-0) picked up their first victory of the season over the Lions (0-2) behind first half goals from Jordyn Balanto and Mei-Te Coco.

Fountain Valley 2, Laguna Hills 0: The Barons (1-0) received goals from Vanessa Kemper and Kasey Reeve to defeat the Hawks (0-2) at Fountain Valley. Alison Marlow recorded five saves in the win.

University 2, Estancia 1: Hannah Ghamari converted the match-deciding PK in the Trojans (1-0) road win over the Eagles (0-1-2).

El Modena 4, Kennedy 1: Emma Adams’ two goals sparked the Vanguards (2-1) to a win over the Fighting Irish (0-2-2) at Kennedy High.

Segerstrom 2, El Dorado 0: Second half goals from Jazmin Lopez and Melissa Masariaga lifted the Jaguars (3-0) over the Golden Hawks (0-2) at Segerstrom High.
