Several of the county’s top runners closed out their seasons at the 2012 Foot Locker Western Regional qualifier Saturday at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.

Villa Park junior Garrett Corcoran was the top county runner in the boys seeded race.

Corcoran finished the 5k (3.1 mile) race in 19th place with a time of 16:06. He had the sixth best time of runners from California.

Three other county runners placed among the top 50 runners in the race.

Godinez senior Jose Penaloza was 29th in a time of 16:20, Brea Olinda freshman Austin Tamagno (16:28) was 34th, and Edison senior Jeff Thies (16:36) was 45th.

Crean Lutheran sophomore Sean Pino (16:41) was 54th.

Benjamin Saarel of Park City High in Utah won the race in a time of 15:28.

Marina senior Kylie Nishisaka was the county’s top finisher in the girls seeded race. Nishisaka placed 15th in a time of 19:05.

Edison junior Gabrielle Yatauro was 31st in a time of 19:25.

Also finishing in the top 100 was Laguna Hills senior Alana Jones (20:00), JSerra sophomore Ashley Geisler (20:04), Edison senior Haley Seward (20:12), San Clemente junior Melissa Eisele (20:18), and Los Alamitos senior Jessica McIntyre (20:36).

Palisades sophomore Marissa Williams was the top qualifier, winning the race in a time of 17:46.

The top 10 individuals in the seeded races will now compete against the top 10 from the Northeast, South, and Midwest Regional qualifiers at the 2012 Footlocker National Championships next Saturday at Balboa Park in San Diego.
