One of the county’s top underclassmen has already decided on where she would like to continue her soccer career.
Canyon girls soccer coach Walter Camargo has confirmed that sophomore goalie Mia Hummel has committed to play soccer at Texas A&M.
“We’re very proud of Mia and her decision to attend Texas A&M, which is one of the greatest women’s college soccer programs in the country,” Camargo said in a statement.
Duke, Colorado, Oklahoma State, and Stanford were among the other schools that Hummel considered before picking the Aggies.
“I was lucky to visit great schools and I liked all of them,” said Hummel. “But when I walked into Ellis Field, it was love at first sight… it is the perfect fit for me and has everything I was looking for with both soccer and academics.”
Hummel made a huge impact as a freshman last season, recording 147 saves and earning first team all-Century League honors. She had seven matches of at least nine saves, recording double digit saves in five of those matches.
