CIF-SS FOOTBALL SEMIFINALS:
SOUTHWEST DIVISION

Edison (11-1) vs. Foothill (10-2)

Where, when: Orange Coast College, Friday, 7 p.m.

Outlook: Edison, a Pac-5 Division transplant, is the Southwest Division’s top seed and has played like it. The Chargers outscored their first two opponents, Esperanza and Valencia, 79-17. Edison has allowed an average of 5.3 points a game and eight touchdowns overall. Its 52 points last week was the team’s second highest total of the season, with quarterback Alek Torgersen and a committee of running backs leading the way.

The Sunset League champs only defeat came to Mater Dei. Fourth-seeded Foothill is making its second consecutive appearance in the division semifinals. It rallied from a small halftime last week deficit to knock off La Habra, 30-27.

Usual suspects Jack Gilchrist and Jullian Moss made the big plays for Knights, who had a close game with Laguna Hills the week before. Foothill’s two losses came against Tustin and Villa Park, which Edison beat by 20 points.
