USA Water Polo has named USC coach Jovan Vavic as its interim men’s national team coach, the federation announced Tuesday.

Marc Hunt of UC Irvine and Vavic’s USC assistant Marko Pintaric will serve as assistant coaches.

Vavic will select the U.S. men’s team for the upcoming Union Americana de Natacion (UANA) World Championship Qualification Tournament in Calgary, Canada, which starts Jan. 28.

The tournament is a qualifier for the world championships.
