Football: CIF-SS second round By the numbers

Here is a look at the action from the second week of the CIF-SS playoffs:

11 – Deficit faced by Mater Dei in the fourth quarter of Friday’s game against Alemany with seven minutes remaining.

21 – Consecutive points scored by the Monarchs to turn a 42-31 deficit into a thrilling 53-42 victory to advance to the semifinals.

4 – Touchdown passes for Mater Dei’s Chase Forrest. Forrest completed 15 of 26 passes for 313 yards. He now has eight touchdown passes in his first two playoffs starts.

124 – Points scored by the Monarchs in their first two playoff games. They opened with 71 last week against Lakewood.

24 – Rushing yards gained by Mission Viejo in the 21-16 loss to Long Beach Poly.

197 – Combined rushing yards gained by Long Beach Poly’s Manusamoa Luuga (129) and Gerard Wicks (68) in the victory over Mission Viejo.

186 – Rushing yards gained by St. Bonaventure’s Zack Green in the 27-21 overtime victory over Santa Margarita.

4 – Touchdowns scored by Green, including a 1-yard score in overtime.

2 – Touchdowns scored by Santa Margarita in the final 2:06 of regulation to force overtime.

3 – Touchdowns scored by Foothill quarterback Jack Gilchrist (one passing and two rushing) in the 30-27 victory over La Habra.

 24 – Points scored in the second quarter by Edison to turn its game against Valencia into a rout, the Chargers would go on to the the 52-14 victory. The Chargers led 38-7 at halftime.

200 – Career victories for Edison coach Dave White following the 52-14 triumph over Valencia.

2 – Touchdowns scored by Villa Park in the last 9:15 of Friday’s game against Newport Harbor, giving the Sailors a 26-21 victory.

365 – Combined rushing yards gained by Tustin’s Terence Martinez (184) and DaVonte Young (181) in the 49-18 victory over Huntington Beach.

5 – Consecutive trips to the CIF-SS semfinals for the Tillers with Friday’s victory.

7 – Combined touchdowns scored by Terence Martinez (5) and DaVonte Young (2) in the victory.

4 – Rushing touchdowns scored by Garden Grove’s Maze Masoe in the 49-21 victory over Segerstrom.

251 – Rushing yards gained by Garden Grove’s ground attack, led by CJ Del Real’s 121.

327 – Rushing yards gained by Rim of the World’s Jacob Taylor on 55 carries in the 28-14 victory over St. Margaret’s. Taylor scored four touchdowns, including a pair in the third quarter.

306 – Combined rushing yards gained by Nordhoff’s Tayler Livingston and Shane Hersh in the 58-21 victory over Whittier Christian.
