Second round

ST. MARGARET’S (10-1) vs. RIM OF THE WORLD (9-2)

Where, when: Rim of the World High, Friday, 7 p.m.

Outlook: The Fighting Scots finished second in the Mountain Valley League. They opened the playoffs with a 35-3 victory over Twentynine Palms.

Everything starts with running back Jacob Taylor. The senior rushed for 396 yards on 46 carries and scored four touchdowns. Taylor has rushed for 3,092 yards on 284 carries with 39 touchdowns. He’s averaging 281 yards a game.

The second-seeded Tartans defeated Aquinas of San Bernardino 28-0 in their first round game. That was the fifth shutout this season for the Tartans.

The Tartans have won seven consecutive games. During that stretch, they have allowed just 26 points. Oscar Gomez has rushed for 1,214 yards and 23 touchdowns for the Tartans.

Quarterback Josh Davis passed for a pair of touchdowns in the victory over Aquinas.

A victory this week and the Tartans will host the potential semifinal game.
