Each week I will select an offensive, defensive and special teams star of the week. This is my pick.
No one was consulted in this selection, although, I tried to contact Phil Jackson for help, but he’s busy thinking about coaching again … or so I heard.
The envelope please:
Offensive
Kyle Sweet, Santa Margarita
Sweet missed the second of the regular season finale against St. John Bosco last week. He was healthy and it showed in the 38-13 victory over El Toro. Sweet completed 14 of 21 passes for 208 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 65 yards.
Defensive
Hunter Remington, Mission Viejo
Remington intercepted two passes and returned them both for touchdowns as the Diablos defeated Westlake, 42-10. Remington had three interceptions last week. When will people learn that you can throw on Remington?
Special Teams
Jackson Willard, La Habra
Sophomore kicker booted a 25-yard field goal with 3:18 left to lift the Highlanders to the 10-7 victory over Los Alamitos. It was Willard’s first made field goal of the season and only his second attempt.
