Football recruiting: Fountain Valley’s Hinnant progressing, out of intensive care

November 4th, 2012, 6:48 pm · · posted by

Fountain Valley standout offensive lineman J.D. Hinnant (6-5, 260), who was seriously injured in a car accident Friday, is in stable condition and no longer in the intensive care unit at UC Irvine Medical Center, his father, Blake, said in a text message Sunday.

“He’s doing OK. Sleeping a lot,” Blake wrote of his son. “He was moved out of the ICU last night into a regular room.”

Hinnant, a senior, suffered a fractured pelvis and tailbone and a small head contusion in the accident, his father said.

The car accident was before Fountain Valley’s season-finale against Marina.

“Thankfully no spinal, neck or internal injuries,” Blake wrote. “Hoping to avoid surgery.”

Hinnant is one of Orange County’s top recruits in the class of 2013. He received offers from most of the Pac-12 before narrowing his picks to Cal, Oregon, Duke and Nebraska.

“We appreciate all the love and support people have thrown our way,” Blake wrote.
