Former Edison standout and Northern Arizona redshirt sophomore Matt McElroy recently helped the Lumberjacks win their sixth Big Sky Conference title in a row.
McElroy finished the 8k race in a time 24:56 and was second among a trio of Lumberjack runners that took home the first three places in the race, helping Northern Arizona to a total of 24 points.
McElroy was the Register’s 2009 Boys Cross Country Athlete of the Year, winning the individual sweepstakes title at the Orange County Championships and finishing second at the Division 2 state final as a senior.
He was a two-time all-county first team selection, a two-time Sunset League champion, and finished second at the 2009 Footlocker Cross County National Championships.
