Each week I will select an offensive, defensive and special teams star of the week. This is my pick.

No one was consulted in this selection, although, I considered asking Alex Rodriguez for help, but he’s been kind of busy striking out and checking out the ladies in the front row … what a life.

Star of Stars

Drake Martinez, Laguna Beach

Martinez rushed for 122 yards on eight carries and two touchdowns (7 and 90 yards), one receiving touchdown (8 yards). He also returned an interception 79 yards for another touchdown in Laguna Beach’s 56-13 victory over Calvary Chapel.

Offensive

Alex Suchesk, Mission Viejo

Suchesk went 203 yards on 17 carries and scored three touchdowns in Mission Viejo’s 55-32 victory over Tesoro. Suchesk’s touchdowns required some serious work. He scored from 34, 56 and 80 yards.

Defensive

Derek Baljeu, Edison

Baljeu recorded three sacks, forced two fumbles and recovered a fumble … all in the first quarter in Friday’s 78-0 victory over Marina.
