
Canyon senior Elisabeth Bernabe, Sunny Hills senior Christopher Chu and St. Margaret’s senior Robert Deng have been selected Junior All Americans, the AJGA announced on Wednesday.
Bernabe, who has shot a 6-under 30 at Black Gold Golf Course this season for the Comanches girls golf team, has a weighted 4.8 GPA, and she is a member of the National Honor Society and International Baccalaureate Program. Bernabe has finished in the top 15 in all five of her AJGA starts this season, and that includes victories in the The Peninsula Junior Classic and the CorseMax/Philadelphia Runner Junior.
Chu has finished in the top 15 twice during the 2012 season, tying for ninth at the ninth at the Deutsche Bank Partners for Charity Junior Shoot Out before tying for 15th at the AJGA Junior at Robinson Ranch. He carries a weighted 4.5455 GPA and is involved with the Orange Korean Church, where he has served at an orphanage in Mexico and led vacation Bible school.
Deng won his first AJGA tournament this summer when he topped the leader board at the Deutsche Bank Partners for Charity Junior Shoot Out. He also tied for fifth at the Hunter Mahan Championship in April. He carries a weighted 4.39 GPA, and he taught English at the Lijiang Ethnic Orphan School in Yunnan, China, where he also helped in several construction projects at the facility.
