Ty Moore, pictured at left during his senior year at Mater Dei, will have his uniform number 29 retired by the school at a ceremony Friday at 10 a.m. at Mater Dei.
Moore was county player of the year twice, and as a senior was a CIF player of the year and was named state player of the year by Gatorade and CalHiSports.
Moore now is at UCLA. He was an outstanding pitcher, outfielder and hitter for the Monarchs.
Number 29 is a good number for Orange County baseball. Rod Carew wore it with the Angels, and four-time team MVP Bobby Knoop wore it for the Angels, too.
