Each week I will select an offensive, defensive and special teams star of the week. This is my pick. No one was consulted in this selection, although, I considered asking my mom for help, but she’s not returning my calls.
The envelope please:
Offensive
Mason Dossey, Capistrano Valley
Dossey helped the Cougars back from a 19-point halftime deficit to defeat Santa Fe Chrsitian, 41-39. Dossey completed completed 21 of 31 passes for 329 yards and five touchdowns.
Defensive
Jonathan Lockett, Mater Dei
Lockett helped lead the Monarchs to the season opening 35-10 victory over St. Paul. Lockett intercepted two passes, had a pass breakup that led to another interception and scooped up a fumble and returned it for a touchdown.
All-Everything (for the special player that did a little bit of everything)
Casey Eugenio, JSerra
Busy night? Yup, Casey Eugenio had one Friday night in JSerra’s 37-21 victory over Long Beach Wilson. Eugenio intercepted two passes on defense, rushed for 78 yards, returned a punt 45 yards for a touchdown, completed a pass for 17 yards and he blocked an extra point.
