Corona del Mar senior setter Kelsey Humphrey will compete on the U.S. women’s junior national team in the NORCECA U-20 Continental Championships, starting Tuesday in Nicaragua.
The 12-player roster was selected through USA Volleyball High Performance tryouts held across the country in the spring.
Initially, 20 players were initially selected as prospects for the team before the final 12 was selected after the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships, July 24-28.
Here is what coach Ron Wilde said of Humphreys in a release:
“Humphreys is athletic and jumps to the ball well,” Wilde said. “She does a good job leading the team.”
Humphreys, who earned second team all-county honors last season, is committed to Stanford.
The U.S. begins play Tuesday against Trinidad and Tobago and Cuba on Thursday.
