Santa Margarita senior Beau Hossler, who briefly led the U.S. Open this past June, will compete in the Junior Ryder Cup Sept. 24-25, at Olympia Fields (Ill.) Country Club, the PGA of America announced on Monday.
The United States team consists of six boys who will be graduating in 2013, and Roger Warren, who recently served as general the general chairman of the 94th PGA Championship, will be the captain of the United States team.
On Monday, Warren added Gavin Hall (Pittsford, N.Y), Jim Liu ( Smithtown, N.Y.), and Scottie Scheffler (Dallas) to the roster.
Hossler earned his spot on the team because he was the highest ranked competitor in the Junior Ryder Cup points standings. This past Spring, Hossler helped lead Santa Margarita to the CIF-SS Team Championship and he finished second in the CIF State Championship tournament. At one point, his cumulative score for 18 rounds of golf was 58 under par.
Besides playing in the Junior Ryder Cup at Olympia Fields, the European and American sides will meet in a “Friendship Match,” on Sept. 26 at Medinah Country Club which will play host to the 39th Ryder Cup.
