All-County Mater Dei water polo player Jon Walters has committed to four-time defending NCAA champion USC, Monarchs coach Chris Segesman said in a text message Thursday morning.

The powerful center was a first-team All-County pick last fall and recently helped the U.S. junior men take the bronze at the 93u Memorial in Acireale, Sicily. Walters scored eight goals in six matches in the tournament.

Walters could be the county’s top recruit in the class of 2013. He also has a talented brother James, a junior at Mater Dei who also plays attacker for the U.S. junior national team.
