Athletic Westminster defensive end Myron Aiava (6-5, 270) has committed to Utah, the senior confirmed Friday night.

“It’s a solid verbal,” he said.

Aiava also was offered by Washington but picked the Utes because of the “family environment” within the program and the “excellent” coaching.

He made an unofficial visit to Utah earlier this summer.

Aiava is athletic for his size. He also plays quarterback, tight end and receiver. In the winter, he plays basketball for the Lions.

Look for Aiava to join the next edition of the OCVarsity recruiting ranking for 2013. El Toro quarterback and Register 2011 offensive player of the year Conner Manning of El Toro also has committed to Utah.
