
Mater Dei’s boys and Corona del Mar’s girls water polo teams captured the California State High School Championships on July 22 in Orange County.
The Monarchs’ boys, the two-time defending CIF-SS Division 1 champion, defeated Newport Harbor, 15-7, in the finals.
The rest of the boys’ top-eight: 3. Loyola 4. Sacred Heart Prep of Atherton; 5. Corona del Mar; 6. Cathedral Catholic of San Diego; 7. Los Alamitos; 8. Dana Hills
Corona del Mar’s girls, the Division 1 runner-up last season, edged Santa Barbara, 5-4, in the finals.
The rest of the girls’ top-eight: 3. Newport Harbor; 4. El Toro; 5. Murrieta Valley; 6. Santa Margarita; 7. Agoura; 8. San Clemente
