Estancia grad and UCLA freshman-to-be Jake Knapp was eliminated in the Round of 16 in the U.S. Amateur Public Links on Thursday at Soldier Hollow Golf Course in Midway, Utah.

Knapp, three-time OC Register All County first team selection, won his first match of the day, beating reigning SCGA So Cal Champion Bryson Decahambeau, 1 Up.

In his quarterfinal match, Alberto Sanchez edged Knapp, 1 Up. Knapp is scheduled to play in the SCGA So Cal Amateur next weekend at Big Canyon Country Club in Newport Beach.

Patrick Cantlay, who was paired with Knapp in a CIF-SS Individual tournament at La Purisima two years ago, won the prestigious amateur tournament last year.
