Jake Knapp, who was an All County first team selection as an Estancia senior this past season, has advanced to the second round of match play at the U.S. Amateur Public Links at Soldier Hollow Golf Course in Midway, Utah.
After shooting a 4-over-par 146 in his 36 holes of stroke play, Knapp earned the 55th seed in the 64-player match-play field.
Knapp beat Dan Horner, who posted a 2-under 140 in stroke play, 3 & 2, on Wednesday and will face Bryson Dechambeau in the second round on Thursday. Dechambeau, who won the SCGA So Cal Championship in June in Pasadena, beat Cody Robinson, 2&1, in the first round.
