Orange Lutheran senior-to-be Blake Barens, who finished second in the CIF-SS Individual Championships, has verbally committed to Notre Dame, his father Jeff said in an email.

Barens, who finished second in the Trinity League tournament behind Beau Hossler, also expressed an interest in the Casey Martin-coached Oregon, and left the CIF-SS Team Championship tournament in Santa Barbara in May early, so he could catch a flight to take a recruiting trip there.
