Former Santa Margarita head coach Mike Jacot is an assistant football coach at Orange Lutheran, according to the Orange Lutheran faculty and staff directory.
Jacot was an assistant coach on the Santa Margarita staff this past season. He was the school’s varsity head coach for seven seasons. Santa Margarita was 38-38 during his tenure.
Jacot resigned after the 2009 season, in which the Eagles finished 3-7 overall and 0-5 in league. He was replaced by Harry Welch, who led a revival of football at Santa Margarita that included a 9-3 record in 2010 followed by a 13-2 finish with CIF section and state championships in 2011.
Chuck Petersen is football head coach at Lutheran, where he has replaced Jim Kunau. Kunau was reassigned at Lutheran after the 2011 season, in which Lutheran did not qualify for the playoffs, and since has accepted an administrative position in the athletic department at Concordia University.
We left a voice mail with Petersen, to find out what Jacot’s duties will be at OLu.
The Jacot departure at Santa Margarita and the Kunau departure at Orange Lutheran followed seasons in which their teams lost Trinity League games to JSerra.
