Jono Herkins, a center fielder out of Pacifica, signed a letter of intent with UC Irvine, Pacifica coach Mike Caira announced today.

Herkins, a senior this past season, led the CIF-Southern Section Division 2 Mariners in hits, with 47, and steals, with 11. He batted .448 and was named to the All-Empire League first team.  Herkins had committed to Cal State Northridge earlier in the season.

The regular signing period for letters of intent continues through Aug. 1 for baseball and many other sports.
