Santa Margarita announced that Katy Daly has been hired as the new girls volleyball coach. Daly replaces Bryan Cottriel who resigned
from both the boys and girls coaching positions recently.
Daly played at San Clemente and was named CIF player of the year in 2001. She played collegiate volleyball at Pepperdine.
Daly has been a health and fitness teacher at Santa Margarita since 2007. She has coached at Laguna Beach Volleyball Club for the past eight years.
“I truly feel that coaching is my vocation,” Daly said in a release. “I look forward to working with our student-athletes to help them reach their full potential as well-rounded student athletes.”
“I am confident Katy will continue to grow the outstanding volleyball program that has been established over the years at Santa Margarita,” Santa Margarita Athletic Director Rich Schaaf said. “She believes in what our athletic programs are all about, making our students not just better athletes, but better people on and off the court.”
