Capistrano Valley’s boys swim team, which in May claimed its third CIF-SS Division 1 title in four years, was honored recently by the Mission Viejo city council.
The Cougars visited the council and each swimmer received a certificate for their accomplishments in the pool.
In May, Capistrano Valley powered to the Division 1 by scoring 389 points to outdistance runner-up Corona del Mar by 87 points.
The one season the Cougars didn’t claim the title during their stretch — 2011 — they placed second in Division 1.
