Softball: When Cougars attack

June 2nd, 2012, 7:42 pm · · posted by

Santiago stranded runners on second and third in the first and second innings. Norco ace Emily Lockman is doing that Houdini escape artist thing. Can she keep it up or will the Sharks finally move in for the kill?

Cal-bound Kylie Reed leads off the top of the third with her second single of the game.

WILD PITCH!!! Reed is on second. Norco threatening once again.

Emily Lockman gets some insurance and helps her own cause with a one-out double down the left-field line to drive in Reed.

Tennessee-commit Taylor Koenig singles to left field to drive in another run and the Cougars have a 3-0 lead.

That gives Norco some breathing room, but Santiago is more than capable of mounting a comeback. Santiago has tons of heart.

Santiago gets the lead-off hitter on for the third consecutive inning. Nevada-bound Nikki Orozco with a grounder to third. The third baseman makes a tough play, the throw is low and the first baseman can’t hang on to it.

Texas-bound Randel Leahy flies out deep to right for the second out and Orozco is able to tag and take second where she gets stranded.

Norco 3, Santiago 0 after 3 innings.
